My motivation to learn more about photography came because of an impending trip to Africa on a photo "shooting" safari. I wanted to be able to capture the amazing experiences of this very different landscape and culture. The Charles River Fall Light photography class gave me a chance to learn from others who were much more experienced and to experiment with new techniques and ideas. Like so many others, I have been taking pictures with point and shoot cameras, both film and digital for many years, but never approached it as an art. It has always been a great way to record memories but I wanted to take it to the next level.

I’m back from my safari now and have some great pictures of the land, the people, and the animals as a result. I continue to learn how to look at the world around me in a different way and to record that on film.
