My interest in photography started when I got a Brownie Holiday camera for my birthday when I was 12 years old. I dabbled with point and shoot cameras on and off for years, and took a darkroom class in college. During travels for work to Asia and Europe, on vacations in the Caribbean, and on hikes in New England, I became more and more interested in visually capturing the people, places and cultures I was experiencing. I expanded my horizons by taking classes, including photojournalism and street photography. I also joined the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University; their monthly magazine has been a helpful guide to all the inspiring photography in the Boston area.
I get great pleasure from looking, framing, capturing and sharing memorable images. Friends and family now get personalized cards on holidays and birthdays. I’ve also started to tell a story or make a point through the pictures I’ve taken. Photography has slowed me down, helped me look more deeply, and appreciate more fully what I might otherwise have taken for granted. If others are moved by or simply enjoy my work, that’s a good thing too!
