Making photographs makes me happy. My photography helps me to really notice the amazing beauty of our world in a conscious way. When I am able to slow down, look at the world through the camera lens, and find images that speak to me, I feel totally alive.

They say that light is the photographer's paint; sometimes my photos feel like "painting with light", noticing the way light falls or reflects. The photograph seems to "work" only if the light is just right.

I was enraptured with photography in college. During the 1970's, I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, learning black-and-white photography and using the darkroom to make my own prints. My passion took a back seat to the responsibilities of working, parenting, and developing my career as a social worker. But the camera was always ready to accompany me when I could drop some responsibilities and head for adventures.

Taking Skip's class was a step in reclaiming the artist within and allowing her to "come out to play" again.
